privacy policy

q1rk.com ("q1rk", "we") keeps data collection to the minimum needed to run the site and understand what's read. this page explains what is collected, why, and how you stay in control. last updated 21 june 2026.

who runs this

q1rk is an independent site published by k4ne. questions: hello@q1rk.com.

what we collect

  • analytics - if you allow it, google analytics sets a cookie and records anonymous usage (pages viewed, rough region, device type). ip is anonymized. it does not load at all until you choose "allow", and you can withdraw at any time (see the cookie policy).
  • post engagement - views and upvotes are counted per post as plain numbers in our database. these are anonymous tallies, not tied to you. a flag in your own browser stops a post being counted twice.
  • newsletter - if you subscribe, your email is handled by hostinger reach, which also stores your consent record. you can unsubscribe from any email.
  • consent record - when you allow or withdraw analytics, we log the choice (timestamp, which policy version, the page, coarse country) so the record can be produced if required. this log contains no ip address and no email.

we do not sell your data, run ad networks, or build advertising profiles.

why we collect it

to operate the site, measure what content is useful, send the newsletter you asked for, and keep records that show consent was given. analytics runs only on your consent; everything else is either anonymous or something you opted into.

third parties

  • google analytics (analytics) - only after consent.
  • upstash (database for the anonymous counts and the consent log).
  • hostinger (hosting, in the usa) and hostinger reach (newsletter + its consent records).

your rights

depending on where you live (eu/uk gdpr, california ccpa, and similar), you can ask to access, correct, or delete your data, and opt out of analytics or marketing. analytics is opt-in here, and you can withdraw with the "consent" link in the footer. for the newsletter, use any unsubscribe link. for anything else, email hello@q1rk.com and we'll action it.

changes

if this policy changes materially we update the date above and, for cookies, re-ask consent.
